Partnering with Frontenac Arch Biosphere – Family of Nature Camps

Leeds Grenville Stewardship is happy to support the various initiatives of the FABN Nature Camps.

On May 11, 2019 we helped out at 2 sites for World Migratory Bird Day programs.
Family Fun Day

On February 18, 2019 Jack Henry and Donna O’Connor from LGSC led a Trees Talk Guided Hike for the Family Fun Day –

Animal Habitats at Skywood EcoAdventure - Parks of the St. Lawrence

Shaun Thompson and Donna O’Connor met with Dan Hodgkinson of the St Lawrence Parks Commission and Kelly McGann, FAB Nature Camp coordinator to discuss their interest in deploying boxes at the Skywood EcoAdventure location - https://www.skywoodzip.com.  The park is 30+ acres - with open fields, mature mixed forest, limestone escarpment, marsh and waterway on Jones Creek, old roads/trails. And “lots of snakes”.

Skywood was looking to "Reconnect" with Nature and it is something that they are hoping to reinvigorate with their 2019 Staff Training.

The project has morphed from just bats to nest boxes for multiple species - including bluebird, owl, kestrel, and snake boxes.

The animal habitats were delivered in the spring and LGSC subsequently installed and filled 2 Gray Ratsnake boxes on the Skywood property.
