Planting the Seed

93 High school students from across Leeds and Grenville Counties participated in this one-day event called “Envirothon”.

This event was held on April 30, 20919 in a unique outdoor setting in Limerick Forest, where students learn first-hand on the importance of wetlands, forests, and species at risk.

Learning about Species at Risk

Teams from Gananoque HS, North Grenville HS, Rideau District HS, North Dundas HS and St. Mary’s HS participated in 2019.

Students are assigned to teams where they compete against other for total points over the day by answering a subject quiz based on the knowledge they learned that day.

Winning Team

St. Mary’s High School Team 1 was the overall winner.

Congratulations to team members Erin Bolger, Jared Elliot, Sam Fahrngruber, Jackson McNeilly, and Mark Meeson from St Mary. All the teams did very well this year and seemed to really enjoy the day.

The Envirothon Event is organized and hosted by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville in partnership with the Leeds and Grenville Stewardship Council.

Thanks to the volunteers for making this event possible and to the teachers for bringing the students. A special thanks to the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville for hosting this event in partnership with the Leeds and Grenville Stewardship Council.
