Dear Leeds Grenville Stewardship Council,

Thank you so much for sponsoring me to go to the 10th annual Ontario Nature Youth Summit! I'm 17 and attending University of Ottawa in their Biotechnology program (biochemistry and chemical engineering). Being able to attend the youth summit is always a highlight to my year. It's a great opportunity to see old friends and make new ones! I also always love helping out with workshops and attending them! They permit us to expand our knowledge of nature and ways in which we can help to protect it. I especially enjoyed our keynote speaker Moe Qureshi this year!

He made an incredible speech encouraging us to get out there and make a difference - big or small, they're all important!

As a youth council member, I enjoy encouraging the new youth summit attendees to join our council! It's great to see how many other youth are as interested and passionate about nature and its protection!

Overall this summit rejuvenates me, I always leave the summit feeling capable and empowered to go out into the world and make a change!

Thank you so much for sponsoring me, I had an amazing time!!

Dear Leeds Grenville Stewardship Council

My name is Kaitlyn Root and I’m sending this to you from Gores Landing, Ontario to thank you for sponsoring me to participate in the 2019 Ontario Nature Youth Summit. This was my second year going, and it was just as amazing, if not more so, than the first. As a student from a small rural area, I rarely get the opportunity to meet with so many youth who share my passion for the environment, which makes the Youth Summit even more special. The connections I made are invaluable, and ones that I never would have had the opportunity to make otherwise. The workshops never fail to inspire me and always leave me full of plans and ideas about what I can do in my life and community to help the environment. In fact, I am currently working with my school to create a pollinator garden and be named an official Bee School, a project inspired by what I learned at the Summit. No matter how much I already know, the workshops always leave me with new information regarding everything from climate change, to our global impact, to observing nature around us. The Summit strengthens my passion for the environment, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate.

Thank you,

Kaitlyn Root
